Five week class: Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9 p.m., Feb. 19, 26, Mar. 5, 19, & 26, 2025 (No class March 12 during March Break) @ Studio Anthology, 77 Suffolk St. W., Guelph

Make a versatile, compact, durable everyday bag! There are so many features to love about this bag… it looks amazing (of course) and features a:

-       Zippered top main compartment

-       Handy back zippered pocket

-       Snap/flap closure over the front pockets

This class is intended to be a really fun, low-key introduction to bag making. In addition to sewing the bag, you’ll have a chance to get comfy with attaching bag hardware. You’ll set a bunch of double cap rivets, hammer in a snap, and attach a strap slider.

This bag accommodates most treasures but – importantly – will not fit *all the things*. Comfortably fits a large wallet, keys, sunglasses, passports, pen/pencil, tissues, glasses cleaner, small pack of tissues, small snacks, etc. Will accommodate a diaper or three. Will *not* fit six large stuffies, 2 full ‘emergency’ outfits, and 87 water bottles. I don’t want to oversell it, but I would say this bag helps promote independence and cultivates a sense of responsibility for little ones, and partners. It’s beautiful – and it’s all yours.

The bag pattern we will use has been adapted from the Traverse Bag by Noodlehead. Your registration includes a copy of this pattern, as well as a copy of Katherine's modified design and tips/tricks.

Level: Confident beginner, basic sewing skills required (like threading your machine, winding a bobbin, and sewing a straight line).

Pattern, interfacing and bag hardware (antique brass finish) are INCLUDED in the class fee.

You will need to purchase waxed canvas, zipper/pulls, and webbing or leather (for the strap).

Note on supplies/hardware: I will send an email with detailed info on where to find waxed canvas, zippers/zipper pulls and webbing/leather to all participants shortly after registration. I’ll also have a limited number of bag-making kits available for purchase.

You can totally find all the supplies you need, but, if you don’t want to or would just rather not have to think about it, I get that, and I’ve got you covered.
