Make your own stylish and functional Lagom Storage Bin! In Swedish, lagom (pronounced LAW-gom) means ‘just the right amount’, and with five sizes to choose from, you’ll whip up a basket that’s perfectly sized to organize toys, craft supplies, or everyday essentials.

You'll learn basic sewing techniques including using a rotary cutter and ruler, working with interfacing for structure, creating crisp corners, and adding handles. Choose your own fabrics to personalize your basket and leave with a handmade piece that’s both practical and chic.

Come sew with us and bring a little lagom into your home!

Level: Confident beginner, basic sewing skills required (like threading your machine, winding a bobbin, and sewing a straight line).

INCLUDED in your class fee:

-       PDF Lagom Storage Bin pattern from Sotak Handmade

-       ½ yard of fusible fleece interfacing

-       1 yard of SF101 fusible interfacing

-       1 yard of 1” cotton webbing in neutral canvas (Optional, for handles – note you can also sew your own coordinating handles with your fabric)

-       8 double cap rivets in brass finish (Optional, add stability and are a nice visual feature for attaching handles to bin)

You will need to purchase exterior fabric and lining fabric. If you want to make the ‘x-small’ size, you will need ¼ yard of each. All other sizes require ½ yard of each. The supplies listed above as included in your class fee will allow you to make any of the 5 sizes, though I will note that I have found the medium or large sizes particularly practical!

Suggested fabrics: Quilting cotton, cotton canvas, denim, Essex linen, cotton/linen blend or medium weight home décor fabric. This will work best if only one of your fabrics is a heavier weight – so if you choose a cotton canvas, denim or home décor fabric, pair it with a quilting cotton, linen or cotton/linen blend. Two lighter weight fabrics – for instance, quilting cotton and a linen – work equally well.

You'll also need:

Thread

Sewing machine in good working order with new(ish) needle (unless you'd like to rent a machine on a first come, first served basis - choose rental option at checkout)

Basic sewing kit - scissors, snips, seam ripper, straight pins, etc. (optional, only if you have one - don't buy anything as I have lots of tools to share!)
